Violet
Male vs. Female Ad Campaign
Project Type: Conceptual Ad Design | Medium: Print/Digital Ads
Objective: Develop a compelling advertising concept to sell the color Violet, targeting two distinct audiences—masculine and feminine—using the same object (a gate), the same color palette (violet, black, white), and identical copy across both ads.
Design Challenge: With strict constraints—limited to one object, a unified color scheme, and shared text—the project required careful attention to scale, composition, typography, and object placement to effectively shift tone and appeal between gendered audiences without altering content.
Creative Solution: I used the gate as a symbolic threshold—representing mystery, transition, and possibility. For the masculine-focused ad, I emphasized bold contrast, angular placement, and commanding scale to evoke strength, intrigue, and modern minimalism. For the feminine-focused version, I explored softer gradients, flowing forms, and more delicate visual balance to express elegance, mystery, and allure.
Both versions used violet as the hero color, showcasing its versatility and emotional depth. This exercise highlighted the power of design choices—beyond color or copy—to influence perception and engagement.
